Friday 12 November, 6pm – 8pm – Swansea Bay

This year’s annual Swansea Council Fireworks Display will take place along Swansea Bay – and it will be free!

Traditionally held at St Helen’s Ground, this year’s spectacular fireworks display will move a short distance to the beach.

Food and drink stalls will be open from 6pm – at both Civic Centre and Cenotaph areas. Throughout the event, there’ll be plenty of food and drink choices including gourmet burgers, a traditional roast carvery, hog roast, hot dogs, wood-fired pizza, fish and chips and sweet treats including cakes, sweets, crepes and doughnuts.

The beach will be open, with the fireworks launched at 7pm.

The display will be visible around the bay (weather permitting), with the best view available on the Prom and beach between the Civic Centre and Brynmill Lane.

Travel and Parking

Why must we wait until November 12 for the city’s annual fireworks show?

Because we want to provide an event responsibly – we’re committed to making it free, accessible and safe despite the fact that the pandemic means challenges for all major events. With high tides on the evenings of November 5-7 – and with other venues not meeting the needs of such a popular event – the bay on November 12 is the best option. It’ll be an event that can be enjoyed by thousands – safely. They’ll be able to spread out along the prom and much of the beach because the tide will be low and social distancing will be easy. There’s the added benefit that most fireworks display companies will be available to undertake this specialist job – and it’ll be a great start to the weekend.

Road Closures

Both East and West bound carriageways on Mumbles Road will be closed between the Civic Centre / Swansea Prison and Brynmill Lane to allow for pedestrian safety. The road closure is between 5pm and 9pm (roads will remain open for as long as possible to aid traffic flow). Pantycelyn Road (between Dyfed Avenue and Townhill Road) will also be closed during this time.

Diversion signage will be in place to direct Mumbles-bound traffic via Uplands / Sketty Lane. Please allow extra time for your travel as roads are expected to be busy. Given the large number of vehicles likely to be leaving the area at the same time, traffic is anticipated to be heavy at the end of the event.
