Cerys Matthews is performing at the city’s Brangwyn Hall on Friday May 31 and birds of prey will be among the fun at Oystermouth Castle on Bank Holiday Monday.

Cerys, the former lead singer of Catatonia, will be on stage from 7.30pm. The falconry event is being held in the grounds of the historic attraction from 11am to 4.30pm.

The events form part of the Swansea Bay Festival organised by Swansea Council.

An introduction to archery event is also being held on Bank Holiday Monday on the King George V Playing Fields in Sketty from 10am to 3pm.

Cllr Nick Bradley, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “The summer season has just started in Swansea Bay and people will get a taste of what’s to come over the half-term break.

“Events and activities have been arranged for people of all ages and interests. There are plenty of ways for parents to keep their children occupied with lots of activities taking place in our community leisure centres and libraries too.”

Other events include a Brazilian culture day at the National Waterfront Museum on Sunday (May 26) from 10am to 5pm. The fun will feature Brazilian dances, games and food.

Children also have the chance to come face to face with jungle critters at Plantasia again from Tuesday to Thursday (May 28 to May 30) with the return of the Animal Antics roadshows.

The annual Clyne in Bloom festivities last until May 31 and there’ll be Dylan Thomas-inspired poetry, arts and crafts with the Junior Park Rangers at Cwmdonkin Park on Wednesday June 29 from 1pm to 2pm.
