County Youth Dance Company (CYDC) promotes contemporary dance for students aged 13-21 from various comprehensive schools and colleges in Swansea.
The Company aims to develop the dancers’ skills through an educational structure involving technique and creative tasks. The Artistic Directors and practitioners working with CYDC promote and support the further development of contemporary dance training, education and performance.
Their performance draws inspiration from the idea of bodies floating and moving in water. The movement material has been created by the dancers through structured creative tasks – either as a solo or group. It is a work in progress and has been created over six rehearsals.
CYDC exists thanks to the support of local organisations: West Glamorgan Youth Theatre Company, Taliesin Arts Centre, YMCA Swansea and Bishop Gore School.
Andy Tamlyn Jones was born and raised in Swansea. He is best known for his work as singer-songwriter with the folk band Boys from the Hill and Welsh pipe band Pibau Bach.
Recent work includes ‘The Brythonnics Project’ in L’Orient, Brittany and as composer/musician for the theatre production ‘Secret of Belonging’.
He has recently composed and recorded music for ‘Catch the Echoes’ for Margam Park and the Tawe River projects.
