There will be another fantastic range of displays and attractions at the 2022 show which is held every year in the beautiful grounds of Penrice Castle Park, Reynoldston, by kind permission of the Methuen-Campbell family.

The Gower Show aims to be a very traditional agricultural show, a chance for local farmers to get together and bring along examples of their best stock, including cattle, sheep, pigs and piglets. The local farmers also enter samples of their crops and compete to see who produces the best grassland. Above all it is a reminder of how very important farming is to our area.

New to the President’s ring this year will be the scurry driving competition, a fast-paced equestrian sport in which a pair of ponies pull a carriage around a course of cones in the fastest time. Ridgeside Falconery will also be returning, this time with lurchers as well the amazing falcons. Displays will show the working relationship between the dogs and the birds of prey. We’re also delighted to welcome back Meirion Owen and his fun-filled quack pack. Rounding up the attractions in the President’s ring will be a show favourite, the fabulous Shire horse display in all their glory.

One of the most popular participation events is the novelty dog show with 13 different categories in which you can enter your pooch.

Horses are always very popular at the Show and attract a very high standard of competition. The horse schedule has over 90 classes and there are always fine examples of almost every type of breed, large and small. The competition in the horse rings start at 9 am.

In the white marquees dotted around the castle field you will find Horticulture with artistic flower arranging and the Open Cookery tent where the results of home baking are compared. The arts and crafts section always attracts a high number of quality entries and the children’s section is always one to look out for!

In the Honey & Bee tent you can get suited up to take a really close look at a bee hive.

There are plenty of opportunities to see and buy a variety of traditional crafts, along with the very popular food tents with plenty of samples to taste. If you enjoy the countryside come and join us for a really great day out.
