Spring is in the air and we’ve rounded up some Easter events, activities and things to do to help you Enjoy Swansea Bay this Easter! 

Read on to find fun family activities and even some free downloadable Easter activity sheets! Let’s take a look at what’s happening in Swansea this Easter. 

Dylan Thomas Centre

Jar of sweets

Go and try the brand new trail at the Dylan Thomas Centre – ‘Dylan’s Favourite Sweets’! Dylan used to love eating sweets in the bath and wrote about some of his favourites in his stories and broadcasts.

There are hidden mini jars representing the sweets throughout the ‘Love the Words’ Exhibition – see if you can you find them all, there’s a prize if you discover each jar! There will also be ‘Here in this spring’ family activities at the centre and online – fun for families of all ages.

Oystermouth-castle

The castle is back open, find out more about its long history on one of the guided tours that take place on Wednesday 13th and 20th of April.  

On Sunday 17th April take part in the Easter Bunny hunt. Find the hidden Easter bunnies and bag yourself an Easter treat! This event is free but castle admission charges apply.

Discover spring museum

Discover Spring at Swansea Museum. Young ones can become Spring discoverers by searching upstairs and downstairs for spring objects, or invite a fairy or brownie into your garden or home by making them a door. You can also pick up some free peas at reception and grow your own at home.

This Easter make the most of the dry, sunny days and enjoy the great outdoor spaces.  We are very lucky to be blessed with over 50 beautiful parks and gardens, many of which are on our doorstep –  and there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy them.

Whether you want to take a leisurely stroll, get your steps in while walking the dog, make your own obstacle course, practice or learn a new skill, or just visit to admire the beauty of the colourful flower beds, there’s a park near you!

Sport & Health

Mountain boarding

There is a packed timetable of fun activities from our Sport and Health team taking place during the Easter holidays for the children including brand new Triathlon Camps, SUP sessions, Us Girls Camps, hockey, dodgeball and Nerf fun sessions – as well as the regular balance bikes, multi-sport camps and mountain biking. Most take place in green open spaces, and these ParkLives sessions are a wonderful way to make to get outdoors and make new friends, all for FREE! 

The usual weekly sessions include Pilates, Nordic walking and Tai Chi will also take place.

Plantasia 

Plantasia Easter competition

It’s all about the eggs at Plantasia Tropical Zoo. Join them on their Easter Eggs-pedition trail where you’ll meet egg-ceptional animals as you egg-splore and search for giant crocodile eggs!
Can you crack the trail and find the answers to the egg-cellent questions all about egg-laying animals?

National Waterfront Museum

Hop over to the National Waterfront Museum on Easter weekend and turn yourself into a bunny detective for The Big Museum Easter Trail where you will need to hunt high and low, far and wide to find the bunnies that are hiding around the museum, if you crack the Easter code you can claim a tasty treat! 

Exhibitions on this spring including ‘Keeping it Local’ where you can discover amazing food delivery vehicles from the past. Find out about some of the people, businesses and projects linked to shopping locally in the past and present. 

‘Trawsnewid’ is an Amgueddfa Cymru – National Museum Wales project aimed at LGBTQ+ young people aged 16 – 25. Praising the rich culture that the often-forgotten LGBTQ+ communities of Wales have to offer.

If you fancy a trip into the city centre why not try something fresh and tasty at Swansea Market, how about hot cross buns? With over 100 stalls to choose from, a gorgeous new Market Garden also awaits; a beautifully decorated new space and pergola at the heart of the market that can be enjoyed by everyone.

Southend Gardens and Singleton Crazy golf

Land rider

Check out what’s back later this month…our lovely Swansea Bay Rider Land Train! Enjoy a 30 minute ride from Blackpill Lido before hopping off for a game of crazy golf at Southend Gardens. Spend a day out at Singleton Boating Lake and enjoy a ride on one of the new green dragon pedalos followed by a game of crazy golf.
