You’ll find plenty of stunning views of Swansea Bay to enjoy on this gentle stroll along the prom.

Starting from Clyne Gardens and heading towards Mumbles Lighthouse, in this 5km walk, we discover some of the stories behind our more popular landmarks, like Oystermouth Castle, and hidden places like Amy Dillwyn’s former residence.

Route

• Start your walk (or cycle) at Clyne Gardens – you may want to explore this gem of a park first!
• Head down to The Woodman and cross the road to Blackpill Lido and view the designated area of special scientific interest (Blackpill SSSI).
• Turn right on the promenade and head towards Mumbles, passing the blue plaque honouring Amy Dillwyn near the West Cross Inn.
• Keep going, just past Ripples you’ll see a pedestrian crossing.
• Cross the road and walk in the same direction until you reach the entrance to the Castle Woods.
• Follow the path through the woods to Oystermouth Castle.
• Leave the castle grounds and walk down Castle Avenue before turning left onto Newton Road and walking back towards the prom.
• Cross the road and adjoining car park to re-join the prom and continue your walk along the route of the Mumbles Train, the world’s first passenger railway.
• Walk in the direction of Mumbles Pier.
• When you’ve arrived, step onto the pier to approach the RNLI boathouse, home to the Mumbles Lifeboat.
• Retrace your steps, outside Beaches and Cream you’ll have a clear view of Mumbles Lighthouse, and notice the blue plaque honouring Jessica Ace and Margaret Wright (the ‘Women of Mumbles Head’), completing your walk.
