Then, on Saturday August 10, Gwerin Yr Gwyr, Milwr Morgannwg and the Collegiate of Knights Templar will be performing. Visitors from 11am to 5pm will be able to see what life was like 1,000 years ago and enjoy a variety of combat techniques. Blacksmith demonstrations will also take place and cookery demonstrations will be organised with authentic recipes from the 13th Century.

Falconry, archery and traditional sports from yesteryear will be showcased too.

Cllr Nick Bradley, Swansea Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “Oystermouth Castle is one of our premier attractions and its recent conservation means it’s going to be enjoyed by local people and visitors for many generations to come.

“The castle lends itself as a fantastic venue for events of this nature and what’s been arranged for the next week will generate a terrific atmosphere. The events offer an opportunity for people to enjoy and find out all about the castle’s fascinating past too.

“It’s events of this nature that help re-enforce our status as a city of culture.”
